Complete Character Roster

Knowing the roster helps you recognize teammates, plan unlock goals, and tell limited event Toons from permanent picks. Dandy's World centers on playable mascot characters called Toons, each with different stats and abilities for surviving floors and extracting Ichor.

The playable lineup changes as updates add new Toons, so older lists may be missing recent arrivals such as Squirm or Waxwell. The current roster below separates core characters, event characters, main characters, and normally unavailable characters.

Roster typeWhat it meansExamples
Regular ToonsStandard characters generally bought with Ichor after meeting requirementsBoxten, Poppy, Rodger
Main CharactersHigher-tier Toons with an active ability and a passive abilityAstro, Shelly, Vee
Event ToonsCharacters tied to seasonal currencies and event availabilityCocoa, Gourdy, Rudie
Special charactersCharacters present in the game but not normally purchasableDandy, Dyle

A few names are especially easy to misread. Razzle & Dazzle are two linked theater-mask characters, but they are treated as one playable selection. Pebble is a dog-shaped rock, while Scraps and Goob are separate craft-themed siblings. “Twisted” versions are hostile forms encountered during runs, not separate playable characters.

Main Characters Names

Main Characters are usually tougher to unlock than regular Toons. They have rainbow-style identification in the selection and store interfaces, along with a pair of abilities that give them strong team utility or personal survival value.

Main CharacterConfirmed full nameTypical roleWhat stands out
AstroAstro NovaliteSurvivalistRestores nearby stamina and tracks exhausted teammates
BassieBassie BloomingtonSupportCarries an extra item and can share inventory items
BobetteBobette CarolynneSupportCan protect herself and boost nearby allies
GourdyGourdy HollowayAll-rounderGives nearby teammates randomized boosts
PebblePebble Dancifer Jr.DistractorDraws Twisteds away and locates nearby items
ShellyShelly FossilianAll-rounderImproves another Toon's extraction speed
SproutSprout SeedlyHealerHeals selected teammates using Tapes
VeeVee Version 1SurvivalistReveals machines and Twisteds on a floor

Astro, Pebble, Shelly, Sprout, and Vee are the core non-event Main Characters. Bassie, Bobette, and Gourdy are event Main Characters, which means their event currency requirements and availability can make them harder to obtain.

For players choosing a first long-term goal:

  • Pick Astro for stamina-focused support and awareness.
  • Pick Pebble if you enjoy distracting Twisteds and moving aggressively.
  • Pick Shelly for machine-focused teams.
  • Pick Sprout if your group needs dependable healing.
  • Pick Vee if you want information about objectives and threats.

Main Characters are not automatically the best choice for every run. A regular Toon with the right ability can be more useful for a specific team composition or floor objective.

Regular and Event Toon Names

Regular Toons make up the bulk of the playable cast. Some are starter-friendly, while others ask for Ichor, research progress, completed machines, titles, or mastery goals before they can be purchased.

Boxten and Poppy are the starter selections. You receive one for free at the beginning and can later buy the other with Ichor. They are good early choices because their requirements are simple and their abilities are easy to understand.

Event Toons are connected to seasonal content. Their return schedule can vary, so players who miss an event may need to wait for it to come back before unlocking its characters.

Names, Full Names, and Special Characters

Most Toons are commonly known by a single name, but several have confirmed expanded names. These full names are useful when searching character pages, discussing lore, or distinguishing a Toon from similarly named fan creations.

Dandy is the title character and operates as the lobby shopkeeper, but players cannot normally buy or select him. Dyle is another developer-only character and is likewise unavailable through standard progression. They should be included in broad character-name lists, but not counted as ordinary playable Toons.

When comparing names, keep these distinctions in mind:

  • “Toon” means a playable mascot character.
  • “Twisted” means the dangerous corrupted counterpart encountered during a run.
  • A seasonal Toon can still be playable, but only after it is unlocked during or after an associated event return.
  • Main Character is a gameplay classification, not simply a story-importance label.
  • Developer-only characters are part of the cast without being standard unlocks.
